Another Gosnell? New Horror in Texas

Gosnell is Not An OutlierJust days after a Philadelphia jury found abortionist Kermit Gosnell guilty of the murder of three newborn children and the negligent death of a patient, evidence of similar atrocities has surfaced in Houston, Texas.
Three former employees of abortionist Douglas Karpen have come forward to give their testimony in a video interview with Life Dynamics.
LifeNews.com has even published photographs taken by the employees of babies killed at the clinic. The photos are horrifying and reveal the absolute brutality of abortion.
Kermit Gosnell’s 'House of Horrors' woke up many Americans to the inhumanity of the late-term abortion industry. Though some in the “pro-choice” lobby – and even some politicians like Senator Harry Reid – would like Americans to believe that Gosnell was an “outlier,” this couldn’t be further from the truth.
The SBA List has catalogued numerous instances, across multiple states, of abortion industry negligence and brutality. The latest news from Texas is, arguably, the most disturbing evidence to be unearthed.
Today SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser asked the media to cover the story, acknowledging that the testimony is overwhelmingly hard to bear:
“With hearts broken for these suffering children, we ask the media to overcome the understandable recoil from this brutality and report the horrific facts of this case. The testimony and the photos are very, very difficult to take in, but this is a conversation that we must have as a nation. What are we as a society willing to tolerate?”
Karpen’s former employees describe hellish scenes in which children were killed beyond 20 weeks gestation. One of the employees said:
“Sometimes he couldn’t get the fetus out…He would yank pieces – piece by piece – when they were oversize. And I’m talking about the whole floor dirty. I’m talking about me drenched in blood.”
This is inhumanity revealed. Compassion must lead us to draw a line. Where do we step in to protect the rights of the most vulnerable?
Congress must take immediate action to address the brutality and lawlessness of the late-term abortion industry and protect women and babies suffering across the country.
Already, appropriate first steps have been taken. The House Energy and Commerce Committee sent a letter to public health officials in each state demanding answers as to how they regulate abortion facilities. Also the Judiciary Committee sent a letter to state attorneys general which asked specifically about late term abortion restrictions and "born alive" statutes.
But this alone is not enough.
The few inches that separate a child in the womb from a child outside the womb should never determine whether its intentional “demise” is permitted by law or whether a “right” to kill it no longer exists.  Americans overwhelmingly oppose late-term abortions and the law should follow their instinctive resistance to this dehumanizing and degrading practice. Rep. Trent Franks’ legislation to ban late-term abortions in the nation’s capital is also a good first step.
In light of this gruesome news, we are grateful for the former employees who have courageously stepped forward to expose the inhumanity of late-term abortion. So many former employees have testified that, while they joined the abortion industry with the intent of helping women, they discovered it is a place only of violence and greed. The reality is that abortion is a gruesome, painful procedure that ends the lives of children and wounds women.
UPDATE: Congressman John Culberson (TX-7), who represents the Houston area reacted to this news, stating:
“On the heels of Kermit Gosnell’s conviction, I am deeply saddened to learn about more atrocities committed against precious unborn babies, this time in our own backyard. Douglas Karpen of Houston, TX, has been accused of brutally murdering babies born after twenty weeks. He is innocent until proven guilty, but the descriptions from his former employees are gut wrenching and absolutely heartbreaking. Taking a baby from its mother’s womb and terminating its life is murder. Throughout my years in public service I have been committed to protecting the lives of the innocent, and as a Member of Congress, I will work with my colleagues to ensure that we put an immediate end to this practice in every corner of this nation. I will never stop fighting to protect the lives of the most vulnerable.”
