CARNEY: OBAMA'S BUDGET WOULD BE DIFFERENT 'IF HE WERE KING'
On Friday, in just the latest indication that the White House remains frustrated at the Constitutional system of checks and balances, press secretary Jay Carney explained that President Obama would produce his budget next week – but that if he were king, he wouldn’t. “What I will say is that this is not the president’s idealized budget,” Carney explained. “It is not what he would do if he were king, or if only people who supported his proposals were in Congress.”
Obama or his spokespeople have now referenced his non-imperial and non-monarchic status with relation to immigration reform (twice) and sequestration. Each time, Obama seems frustrated with the fact that he has to contend with branches of government. And each time, he’s using his non-dictatorial role an excuse for him failing to get deals done where he should.
