Storyline
In a violent post-apocalyptic society, the drifter Eli has been wandering to west across North America for the last thirty years reading a unique book that he brings with him. He survives hunting small animals and seeking goods in destroyed houses and vehicles to trade in villages for water and supplies. When he reaches the village ruled by the powerful mobster Carnegie, the man offers a job to Eli to join his gang. Carnegie presses his blind lover Claudia to send her daughter Solara to convince Eli spending the night with him. The girl sees the book of Eli, and when Carnegie beats up on Claudia, she reveals that Eli has the sought book. Plot Summary | Plot SynopsisMy Take is very different , because standing back and looking at this story ,it is of a man lead by a force to wonder for 30 years towards the west coast , as opossed to 40 years in the desert . When he wonders into a grungy town where people act like and are treated as animals and there is fear in the air he meets the bad guy who just happens to have been looking for a bible for many years . You might wonder why and he explains it to Eli , after through trying to seduce him with a (the daughter of a blind woman he is living with) the bad guy ( Gary Oldman) discovers that Eli ( Denzel Washington)has a bible which Oldman wants because as he rightly know the word is most powerful and he can rule and build an empire if he can just get a Bible..
The Bad guy is right that the BOOK in the wrong hands can be wielded with great power just as it can be used for Good, in the right hands can be a beautiful thing..
But really the power isn't in the book per,se but in the power behind the book for Good in the right hands or Bad with wrong hands . The end of the movie is quite special also...
